22 December: Studying the Mapua Masterplan - I'm confused! It says it isn't intended to revise the 2018 Waterfront plan, but then completely ignores it. Key references are on p15 of the Supporting Document and p44. But good luck working out what they mean.
There is a lot about working with iwi to preserve Grossi Point's cultural heritage, including information panels at Grossi and Waterfront Park. Maybe their real intention is no ramp and no boating at Grossi either.
It seems very strange to me that there should be so little on an issue of such fundamental importance to the character of Mapua, which is one of their guiding principles.
What are these buggers up to?
10 December: interesting couple of days. Commissioners did the site visit, accompanied by MCBRT’s lawyer and a ramper. MCBRT and boat clubbers marked out the site in a very feeble fashion, which maybe why the Commissioners have asked for detailed images of the ramp (there was very little in the application - I did some mockups using an Apple pen on a photo because there was nothing else. They’ve also asked questions about construction and contamination risk.
Another interesting development: the deputy harbourmaster put in a damning and very precise report on the risks of the ramp, concluding that Grossi was a far superior option. For some reason the Commissioners refused to accept the report.
We asked for a copy under LGOIMA this morning, we got it hours later. Council staff seemed unduly hasty in getting it into our hands. Wonder why?
